Rare Tim Burton ‘Frankenweenie’ screening at MOMA
Posted by Cam • No Comments »

News Times are reporting that The Museum of Modern Art will be holding a special screening of “Frankenweenie” this Sunday!

The Museum of Modern Art, 11 West 53rd St., is screening films in conjunction with its ongoing Tim Burton exhibit.

Sunday at 2:30 p.m., the museum is presenting a double-bill of “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” with the director’s bizarre 1984 animated short, “Frankenweenie,” which first brought him to the attention of Hollywood movie executives. The movie scared the executives at Disney which funded it and became a legend as the studio refused to screen it. Years later, they proudly released it on video.

“Frankenweenie” combines animation with live actors including the late great Joseph Maher, who lived in Fairfield for many years.

Film free with $20 MOMA admission.

For more information, go to www.moma.org.

Posted by Cam • No Comments »

Here’s a video interview with Anne Hathaway at the Variety Power of Women Luncheon in which she talks a little about her character, costume and when she read the book by Lewis Carol. The sound isn’t the best but it’s still worth to take a look at. The video is courtesy of LA Times Blog. Enjoy!

Tim Burton Talks “Alice” at D23
Posted by Cam • No Comments »

Yes, Tim Burton has officially been announced via the D23 Expo twitter and a number of articles to attend the event today when the new footage from “Alice In Wonderland” will be shown (at 11AM) in just a few tiny hours! Pictures of this will of course be available in the gallery as soon as they come in! Until then, we can only speculate about what the footage will feature, Tim’s appearance at the event etc. Below is an article that shows exactly what I’m talking about.

When we learned that director Tim Burton would be appearing at the D23 Expo on Friday, September 11th at 11AM, we got to thinking about that “Alice in Wonderland” trailer that one or two people might have heard about, oh, a couple of months back.

And how we watched it, well, a few times. Seven? Eight? Oh boy. One time, solely to study Alice’s fashion (those button-up boots, we want them). Another time, to listen to the music. Another, to get a better look at Anne Hathaway’s ghosty eye make-up.

And then there’s the actor playing the Mad Hatter. Johnny Depp, we think? Yep. Another viewing for Mr. Depp.

More Information On Tim Burton’s Artwork Exhibit
Posted by Cam • No Comments »

More information about what we reported earlier about Tim Burton’s artwork is going to be shown at The Museum Of Modern Art is now available on the website of Passport Magazine.

Boys and girls of every age, wouldn’t you like to see something strange?” If this lyric from the movie Nightmare Before Christmas immediately stirs up excitement, then plan a visit to New York’s Museum of Modern Art, which will welcome visitors into the visionary and macabre world of Tim Burton. Over 700 works will be on display, exposing the man behind such movies as Sweeney Todd, Edward Scissorhands, and the upcoming Alice in Wonderland. See drawings, paintings, storyboards, moving-image works, puppets, set replicas, costumes, and cinematic ephemera.

In conjunction with the exhibit, MOMA will show films that inspired Burton, in a cinematic event titled The Lurid Beauty of Monsters. Cling to a loved one while watching classic horror films like Nosferatu and Frankenstein. The artist, illustrator, photographer, and writer’s works will be on display from November 22 through April 26, 2010.
